Beautifully hand-sewn binding housing the seventh edition of this German prayerbook, with five engraved plates showing oval portraits of religious figures. With an early ownership inscription of Natalie Hoffman dated 1858 crossed out and a later ownership signature of Thekla Cappices(?) 1975 in ink on front endpaper verso. While there were many editions of this prayerbook, and they are widely held, OCLC locates just one copy worldwide of this particular imprint (Bibliotheque Cantonale Jurassienne).
