Lyon printed by Joannem Temporalm in 1555: Jean Temporal, active from 1549 to 1571.

This edition of the Latin translation of the Greek philosopher Philo of Alexandria, by Sigismond Gelen, is shared with other Lyon publishers (Eustache Barricat – Jean Frellon – Jean François de Gabiano – Thibault Payen – Maurice Roy- Louis Pesnot) who seem to have used the same printer, not yet identified.

Sigismund Gelenius (1497 in Prague – 1554) (Sigismond Gelenius, Sigismund Gelen or Sigmund Gelen, Zikmund Hrubý z Jelení) was a Czech intellectual and humanist.

The most eminent representative of the Jewish philosophical school of Alexandria which interpreted the Bible according to Hellenistic categories, Philo left a work which is for the most part a vast commentary on the Torah. This work is a valuable source of information on Judaism of the time and an essential testimony on the Alexandrian exegesis of the Old Testament.
