Our copy therefore contains the three recumbent figures from the church of Saint-Paul in Paris, by Maugeron, Samegrin [for Saint-Mégrin] and Quesleus [for Caylus], minions of Henry III who were removed from subsequent editions following the destruction of the mausoleums by the populace incited by the preachers of the League, in 1589.

Paul Stuart de Caussade de Saint-Mégrin was assassinated as he left the Louvre in 1578.

Louis Maugeron (1560-1578), son of the lieutenant general in the government of Dauphiné, was killed in the famous duel of the Minions (April 27, 1578) against Charles Balsac d’Entragues in Paris. He was the witness of Jacques de Lévis, Lord of Caylus.
