André Tiraqueau, depicted in the banner of Book I behind a chair and delivering a law lesson, explains his comments on the Withdrawal (lineage or conventional) in law.
The large number of tables at the beginning of the work demonstrates a desire for expert, discontinuous and practical reading. The Latin warning mentions two earlier editions published by Guillaume Rouillié (1518-1589) in Lyon, probably around 1549. A Parisian edition (J. Kerver) in-folio had appeared in 1541, with a more developed title specifying that the study was not limited to the Poitevin custom but included all of France. Handwritten bookplate by Antoni Favard.
