Notes: Adrian Frutiger (1928–2015) was one of the most influential typeface designers of the 20th century. His typefaces Avenir, Frutiger, Didot and Univers are still present in our everyday lives decades after their creation. Frutiger designed Univers in 1957 for the type foundry Deberny & Peignot. Univers was the first typeface to be designed from the ground up as a family of weights. The text in ‘Au commencement …’ was typeset and printed by hand in Frutiger’s studio using the ‘original’ Univers 55 cast by Deberny & Peignot.
