

The final volume of Janet Frame’s autobiography , 1985. Published in the States by George Braziller simultaneously with its publication in New Zealand by Hutchinson & Co. Book and dust jacket are in fine condition. Frame is best known for the second volume of her autobiography An Angel At My Table, which was made into a film. She was awarded a C.B.E. in 1983. Frame is considered to be one of New Zealand’s distinguished contemporary writers. She died in 2004. Her checkered personal history included a number of spells in psychiatric units. The three volume autobiography has been called “powerfully engaging…an eloquent testimony to the transforming powers of the writer’s craft.
