First edition, first impression 1970. Didion’s third book, second novel, her break-out book: “set in a place between good and evil , literally in Los Angeles and Las Vegas and the wastes of the Mojave, but figuratively in the landscape of the arid soul.” Book is in fine condition with stamped red boards and black spine with gold lettering. Unclipped dust jacket is strikingly illustrated and features a celebrated portrait of the author. One visible tear and a couple of nicks to the spine. Overall a reasonable copy of a book that is often expensive.
