First edition from 1692 dedicated to Eberhard Christoph Balthasar, Freiherr von Danckelmann.

In-folio (33 x 22 cm), work decorated with a large number of engravings in the text, 5 full-page plates outside the text, parchment spine, superficial cover of the covers in parchment. Some small shadows of waterstains at the foot on a limited number of pages.

Lorenz Beger was a famous numismatist who presents here collectible coins, including rare Greek coins.

This work is famous for its first description of a Roman sarcophagus from the Pamphili collection, misinterpreted as the mythological story of Cephalus and Pocris (p. 143).

Danckelman was acting as Prime Minister to the Elector of Brandenburg. He was disgraced in 1697 and prosecuted for corruption.
